Fourth Annual Norristown DanceFest August 4 & 5, 2012 @ Montgomery County Cultural Center in Norristown, PA

The fourth annual Norristown DanceFest will take place at the Montgomery County Cultural Center in Norristown, Pennsylvania on August 4, 2012 at 8pm and August 5, 2012 at 2pm.  Norristown residents can expect another enriching weekend of noteworthy dance.

Created to promote the arts in one of Philadelphia’s culturally growing suburbs, Norristown DanceFest will highlight works by innovative choreographers and their professional dance companies. This year dancers are traveling from Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, and even as far as Italy.

The 2012 performing companies are Alchemy Dance Company, Angela Conte, Celli Contemporary Ballet, ChisenaDanza, KC-Chun Manning/FRESH BLOOD, Putty Dance Project, and Valerie Green/Dance Entropy.

Two youth, pre-professional companies will be presented in the Norristown DanceFest this year.  Philadelphia Dance Theatre will be performing on August 4, 2012 and Elysian Dance Company will be performing on August 5,2012.  The goal is to give our youth a chance to perform in a professional setting while exposing them to a variety of dance genres performed by renowned dance companies.

Norristown DanceFest will feature its first international company this year, Celli Contemporary Ballet originating in Rome, Italy.  Itschoreographer, Enzo Celli, has taught and choreographed worldwide and is currently undergoing an artistic residency in New York City.
Norristown DanceFest evolved with the collaboration of Melissa Chisena, director of Chisena Danza, and Norristown business owner Doug Seiler of Seiler and Drury Architecture.  Also, with the help of Norristown Arts Council President, Rich Rogers, Norristown Arts Council, and Fran Doyle, Director of The Montgomery County Cultural Center, Ms. Chisena is able to present this production once again.

The mission of the Norristown DanceFest is to enrich, unite and inspire the community through the art form of dance.
