Alaina Nelson to perform at the 3rd Annual Norristown Arts Hill Festival.


Alaina Nelson, a singer/songwriter/actress born and raised in Norristown, PA is scheduled to perform at the 3rd Annual Norristown Arts Hill Festival.


The Norristown Arts Council is pleased to announce that Alaina Nelson will be performing in the 3rd Annual Norristown Arts Hill Festival on Saturday, May 5 at noon. The Festival runs all day from 10am to 5pm. “One aspect of the festival is about recognizing the great artistic talent we have in the area, so we’re very pleased to include Alaina Nelson in the program,” says Norristown Arts Council President, Richard W. Rogers, Jr.



"I'm very honored to return as a performer at the Norristown Arts Hill Festival for the 3rd year,” R&B artists Nelson said. “I'm so grateful that the Norristown Arts Council has created this wonderful platform for artists to display and share their talents, as well as to help revitalize our community. I can only hope attendees, especially young people, will enjoy the performances and feel inspired to continue to pursue their own artistic dreams." Alaina Nelson will be joined by a wide variety of local artists including the George Weldon Jazz Trio, the Norristones and the Metropolitan Ballet.  “We’re proud of the wide variety of performers included in this year’s festival,” says Gene R. Frank, Festival Coordinator. “The inclusion of different styles, cultures and genres makes for an exciting day, and an ideal celebration of Norristown.”



This year’s festival includes an expanded set of children’s activities, beginning at 10:00am, including a performance of “John Henry” by the Centre Theater, an interactive mural activity sponsored by ACPPA, and an array of family and child-friendly performances and activities.



The Festival is provided free of charge and is populated by vendors of fine arts, performance-related businesses, cultural delicacies, favorite foods, and local/regional services. The festival is organized by the Norristown Arts Council and has been supported financially by the sponsorship from the Greater Norristown Corporation (GNC), friends in the community, and the Municipality of Norristown. Financial support has also come from local businesses and patrons of the Arts through advertising and sponsorship.

Norristown Night at Theatre Horizon

On Wednesday, April 11, 2012, Theatre Horizon is hosting Norristown Night to open the final show of its season, How I Learned To Drive! By Paula Vogel and Directed by Kathryn MacMillan.  Tickets are just $10 for Norristown residents! 

A wildly funny, surprising and devastating tale of survival as seen through the lens of a troubling relationship between a young girl and an older man. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, How I Learned To Drive is the story of a woman who learns the rules of the road and life from behind the wheel. Recommended for ages 18+.
Theatre Horizon welcomes all of Norristown to enjoy an evening of Jazz, Poetry and Pulitzer Prize Winning Theatre!   
In celebration of National Jazz Month and National Poetry Month Theatre Horizon is featuring Norristown jazz artists and will open the evening’s performance with original poetry by The Montgomery County Poet Laureate!
