Stakeholders Elect Two (2) Area Residents to Norristown Arts Council Board of Directors and New Executive Officers are Chosen for 2012.



NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania (January 26, 2012): Norristown Arts Council held its 2012 Annual Meeting and Board Elections on January 26 at Norristown Borough Hall. Nearly 30 stakeholders were in attendance to elect new Board members from a panel of six (6) area candidates and to listen to Arts Council plans for the upcoming year.

Candidates addressed the Arts Council and stakeholders with 2-minute biographical statements highlighting their qualifications and desire to serve on the Board of Directors. Six (6) candidates qualified to run for two (2) available positions as either an at-large or a business representative. The two (2) candidates who were elected and welcomed to the Board are Norristown resident and social activist, Paula Robinson, and area businesswoman, Christine Sherbert. Ms. Robinson is a lifelong Norristown resident who has served on a countless number of directing Boards of local organizations, including the George Washington Carver Community Center, Norristown Public Library, Weed and Seed, and Montgomery County Cultural Center. She is the founder and coordinator of Family Unity Day at Simmons Park and Down with Dirt, a business and church based organization focused on neighborhood revitalization and positive growth in the community. Ms. Sherbert, is an area businesswoman and real-estate investor and developer. Over the past 5 years, she has introduced Norristown to many investors and business owner as “the place to be,” including a Fortune 500 financial planning firm which has taken residence at The Kennedy Building in the 1000 block of DeKalb Street. Ms. Sherbert is dedicated to the continued growth of Norristown as a destination for the Arts and business.

Additionally, Norristown Arts Council elected executive Board members for 2012: Richard W. Rogers, Jr. was elected to another term as President of the Board of Directors. Kevin Homer was elected to the position of Vice President. Fran Doyle continues to serve as Board Secretary, and Gabriela Prete continues as Board Treasurer. The entire Board consists currently consists of these 11 members:
