Revised Mural Design Unveiled At Town Meeting

 Mural artist Matthew Bush presented revised design ideas for the Norristown Arts Hill mural to a group of community members on Thursday night during a public meeting at Municipal Hall. The mural, which will be visible while crossing the DeKalb Street bridge, features many detailed images of Norristown buildings along with artistic characters and symbols.

NORRISTOWN MURAL PROJECT ARTWORK TO BE REVEALED FOR PUBLIC APPROVAL

NORRISTOWN, March 19, 2012 – State Sen. Daylin Leach (D-Delaware/Montgomery) today announced a meeting during which the finalized art for the Norristown Mural Project will be subject to public consideration.
Leach invited the public to attend the meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 at Norristown Borough Hall. Guests will have the opportunity at the meeting to view the proposed artwork and offer their feedback and approval of the mural project.
"I'm happy to announce that the project's artist, Matthew Bush, has finalized his plan for the mural after considerable feedback and input from the community," Leach said. "I am eager to see the final product and encourage members of the public to attend the meeting in order to continue our participation with this valuable project. Like I've said before, this mural is a community effort and we need everyone's input to make sure we are all satisfied with the end result."
Also scheduled to attend the meeting are Deborah Zuchman of the Philadelphia Mural Arts Project, mural artist Matthew Bush, and members of the Norristown Municipal Council and Norristown Arts Council.

Norristown Arts Council to Hold 3rd Annual Norristown Arts Hill Festival

NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania (May 5, 2012) Norristown Arts Council presents the 3rd Annual Norristown Arts Hill Festival to be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 10 am to 5 pm, celebrating the 3 year anniversary of Norristown Arts Hill¸ Norristown’s steadily developing Arts and Culture District based at the corners of Main and DeKalb Streets.

The Norristown Arts Council is proud to showcase the beautifully developing downtown Norristown area; to provide entertainment for the greater Norristown Region, and to aid in the revitalization of downtown Norristown through the presentation of a family friendly day of diversity in regional and nationally acclaimed performance ranging from local theatre and church choirs, jazz, rock, folk and dance; to magic, children’s song and dance and spoken word. The Festival is provided free of charge and is populated by an array of participating vendors of fine arts, performance-related businesses, cultural delicacies, favorite foods, and local/regional services.

“The Norristown Arts Hill Festival is vital to the revitalization efforts of Norristown Borough. Norristown Arts Council provides a public display of richness in diversity people, talent and culture. The Festival reminds all involved of what downtown Norristown has to offer as a destination city,” said Richard W. Rogers, Jr. - President, Norristown Arts Council.

A show of support has aided in production of this year’s celebration in the form of grants and sponsorship from friends in the community the Greater Norristown Corporation (GNC) and the Municipality of Norristown. Financial support has also come from local business and patrons of the Arts through advertising and sponsorship. In honor of the many contributing partners, a cocktail Reception on the Hill will be held on Thursday, May 3, from 5:30 to 8:00 at The Four Seasons Banquet Hall featuring buffet, cash bar and live entertainment. The Arts are Alive in Norristown!

Norristown's Alaina Nelson to Perform at The Arts Garage March 22

Alaina will be the featured performer for this installment of the Color Me Bad Series! The night will feature a slew of new songs from her upcoming album, some of which will be performed for the very first time! Joining her on stage will be her GMG labelmate Reckless Rio, "Wrecking Crew" members Curly Castro, Zilla Rocca & Has-Lo, and the incomparable DyShon Penn. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm.
