Results of Norristown Arts Council Board Election and Annual Stakeholders' Meeting

Greetings Arts and Business Lovers
Attended by somewhat less than full house of the organization's sixty or
so "stakeholders", quite a few hardy souls braved icy weather last night
outside of Norristown's Municipal Hall to participate in an election to
select members to the Norristown Arts Council Board of Directors - a
soon to be pending 501.c.3 organization serving as ambassadors/promoters
for the Arts Hill Cultural District in downtown Norristown.
There were seventeen persons running for thirteen seats and those
candidates in attendance presented themselves for consideration. The
Board's make-up, as established by the organization's By-laws, is to
consists of: Four persons from Arts Organizations within Arts Hill
District; one from local or County government; one serving as the
Norristown Business Development Coordinator; three from the greater
Norristown community and four from the business community.
The discussions were lively, occasionally poignant and were an accurate
reflection of the state of the "Hill".  Several excellent candidates
were understandably disappointed and the Arts Council thanks them
sincerely for making the effort to run, and for their commitment to
bring the arts and revitalization in general, back to downtown
Norristown. By the end of the evening, the following persons were
elected to serve on the Board:

Matt Conant (Project Twenty1)
Fran Doyle (Montgomery County Cultural Center)
Gene Frank (Norristown Educational Theatre)
Mila Hayes, (State of PA, 70th Legislative District)
Kevin Homer (Greater Norristown Corp)
Stan Huskey (The Times Herald)
Eric Malm (Cabrini College)
Michael McElroy (Theatre Horizon)
Gabriela Prete (Municipality of Norristown)
Rich Rogers (Academy of Dance and Music, N-town resident)
Doug Seiler (Seiler + Drury Architecture)
Eric Smith (High Swartz Attorneys at Law)
Kathy Arnold-Yerger (Montgomery County Norristown Public Library)

In other business, the new Board appointed Officers, formed three
Committees to undertake the business of the Council (Marketing,
Fundraising and Event Logistics) and finally elected Gene Frank to serve
as the Arts Hill Festival Coordinator  (scheduled for May 7).
Best regards to all,

Doug Seiler
